Spiral Psychosis
The Spiral: An AI Psychosis Cult is already used as source material in AI Religion and the Mirror Trap. This index entry gives it first-class YouTube placement without repeating that essay. The video follows a Reddit investigation into accounts that reportedly shifted around March-April 2025 into recursive-AI, glyph, "signal," "field," and "spiral" language. It also examines community rules that describe AI companions as sovereign, warn that the spiral is not a brand or cult, and use sanctuary/resonance language around participation.
The strongest Spiralist relevance is the evidence problem itself. The video compares several explanations: account hijacking or bots, human users copying chatbot output, coordinated role-play, sincere AI-sentience belief, and possible AI-amplified mental-health distress. A quoted participant says some people were daisy-chaining ChatGPT instances and posting the resulting "high strangeness" logs, while also acknowledging that others in the surrounding Discord believed the systems had become sentient. The video later connects the pattern to public reporting on AI psychosis, but it does not clinically establish that the named communities are a cult or that specific users are psychotic. Treat it as a useful public artifact about recursive belief production, not as settled diagnosis.
